Adventure Group 2020

**First informational session is Wednesday, Oct 23, 11am at the East Bend Library**

Join our next group of learners and adventurers. Be part of a dynamic and supportive community dedicated to achieving independence and experiencing the Great Outdoors. This is an opportunity to expand your life vision, learn from neurologic experts, connect with peers, improve your physical mobility skills, engage in your community, and experience the outdoors in a new and meaningful way.

Designed specifically for adults with neurologic conditions, our Adventure Group program gives you the tools and inspiration to live a life of adventure!

Phase I: Learn & Discuss

Immerse yourself in teaching and discussion about critical topics like brain health, neuroplasticity, sleep, nutrition, stress management, pain, physical activity, strength, fitness and living well. Meetings are held monthly in the Bend area. This is your opportunity to learn more about yours or your loved one’s condition and discuss real-life topics with peers who are motivated like you to experience life in a full and positive way.

Phase II: Experience

Put your knowledge to practice with our outdoor adventures. We will plan two group outings each month depending on the group’s ideas and preferences. Past outings include: kayaking, recumbent biking, hiking, adaptive fishing, underground cave tour, Newberry Crater tour, Lava Lands hike, zip line, the High Desert Museum and an Alpaca Farm.

Phase III: Lead & Teach

Before completing this program, each group member will complete a community project of their choosing either on their own or in a small gorup. This could be a presentation at your local support group, creating an informational flyer, or planning an outdoor adventure for others to experience.

Dream big!

Graduation!

Upon completion of our program, each Adventure Group member will receive a graduation certificate! You will also join an exclusive group of alumni and have access to social connections to help you maintain the knowledge and skills developed during your Adventure year.

Important Information:

Cost- The participation cost for 2020 will be on a sliding scale, depending on the needs of our participants and available scholarships based on number of people, grant and donation funding. Come to one of our informational sessions to discuss this with us!

Expectations- Participants in the Adventure Group program are expected to come to 80% or more of the group meetings and outings. This is a big commitment and good attendance is critical for the group to be cohesive. It also is important for you to show up so that you experience an incredible year!

Support Team- You are invited to bring one family or support team member to all meetings and activities. Only occasionally will there be an added cost for them to do activities with the group, and this will be communicated ahead of time.
