Mike is a member of Destination Rehab’s 2018 Advisory Council. He is a physical therapist at St. Charles Medical Center’s outpatient rehabilitation clinic treating clients following neurological disease or injury. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Washington State University and a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Washington. He has worked at St. Charles for 17 years after previously working at a large, level 1 trauma hospital in Seattle, WA. Mike has completed advanced training in vestibular rehabilitation and holds certificates as a Neurological Clinical Specialist and Assistive Technology Professional. Read on to learn more about Mike!
Q: How and why did you connect with Destination Rehab?
A: As the lead physical therapist at St. Charles, I worked with Carol-Ann to have her present at our monthly PT meetings. I also helped out at an event last year and really enjoyed it, and I appreciate what Destination Rehab is doing in our community.
Q: How would your family describe you?
A: I tell a lot of “Dad jokes” and am always on the go enjoying all that Central Oregon has to offer.
Q: What is an unknown or lesser known fact about yourself?
A: I was a scoutmaster for several years.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: Running, mountain biking, backpacking, skiing, rafting, and fishing.
Q: What was your favorite Destination Rehab event from 2017 and why?
A: SOAR! It was awesome to see so many people try different sporting and outdoor events.
Q: What Destination Rehab event are you most looking forward to this year?
A: I am looking forward to helping with as many as possible.
Q: What is a personal goal you have for this upcoming year?
A: To learn how to play my new Cajon (sit on drum) that I received as a Christmas gift.
